What is saline tattoo removal?

A salt-based method that gently lifts pigment out of the skin — a softer alternative to laser, most often used to correct or lighten permanent makeup.

The Technique

Lifting pigment out, not breaking it down.

Vixen Brows uses LI-FT saline solution, applied with the same hand-tool method used for microblading. Instead of depositing pigment, the saline solution is implanted into the treated area, where it draws old pigment up and out of the skin through the skin's natural healing process as it forms a light scab. As that scab heals and lifts away, it takes a portion of the pigment with it.

This is different from laser removal, which breaks pigment down inside the skin using heat. Saline removal works with the skin's own healing response instead, which tends to be gentler and carries less risk of scarring.

When It's Used

Correction, lightening, or a clean slate.

Saline removal is most commonly used to fade or correct old permanent makeup — brows that have gone the wrong color, healed unevenly, or were shaped too dark or too thick. It's also used to lighten an existing set enough that fresh microblading or ombré work can be layered on top with better results. Because it's gentler on the skin than laser, it's a common first step before a new brow or lip service, rather than a full standalone removal in every case.
